For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.

  1. Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the LORD will dwell in it for ever.
  2. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
  3. In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel. In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
