Proverbs 6:17

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

  2. And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
  3. Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
  4. That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
  5. For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.
  6. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
  7. A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
  8. An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
  9. A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
  10. There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
  11. The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
  12. The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
  13. Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
  14. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper. Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands. Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
  15. Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.
  16. And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.
  17. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
  18. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
  19. Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
  20. Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
  21. Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?
  22. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
  23. Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
  24. Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
  25. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
  26. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
  27. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
