Proverbs 6:16

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

  1. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
  2. For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.
  3. The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
  4. For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.
  5. The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
  6. A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.
  7. They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.
  8. The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
  9. He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
  10. There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:
  11. For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:
  12. Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.
  13. Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
  14. There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:
  15. There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:
  16. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
  17. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:
  18. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
  19. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
  20. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:
  21. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:
  22. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;
  23. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
  24. Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto the LORD thy God.
  25. Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
