Titus 3:5

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

  3. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

  5. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

  7. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
  8. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
  9. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
  10. Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
  11. If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
  12. What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
  13. How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?
  14. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
  15. Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.
  16. For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
  17. But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
  18. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
  19. I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee.
  20. Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
  21. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
  22. He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;
  23. To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
  24. Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
  25. And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
  26. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
  27. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
  28. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
  29. (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
  30. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
  31. What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
  32. And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
  33. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
  34. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
  35. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
  36. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
  37. If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
  38. Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
