Titus 1:9

Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

  6. But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
  7. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
  8. My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
  9. Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
  10. For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.
  11. But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
  12. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
  13. Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
  14. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
  15. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
  16. In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
  17. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
  18. Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.
  19. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
  20. Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
  21. But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
  22. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
  23. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
