(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)

  1. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
  2. In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
  3. As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:
  4. Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
  5. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
  6. And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:
  7. Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
  8. But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
