Psalms 73:11

And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

  1. And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud? Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.
  2. He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.
  3. Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
  4. They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
  5. Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
  6. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
  7. Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.
  8. And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.
  9. And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.
