Proverbs 4:23

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

  5. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
  6. Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;
  7. My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
  8. A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.
  9. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
  10. Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
  11. Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
  12. He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
  13. There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.
  14. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
  15. Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
  16. Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
  17. But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
