Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

  7. And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted. And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
  8. See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
  9. And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.
  10. And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.
  11. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
  12. Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity. Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
  13. Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
  14. Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.
  15. The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
  16. He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
  17. Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
  18. Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
  19. Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:
  20. None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
  21. Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
  22. And for his diet, there was a continual diet given him of the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.
  23. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
  24. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
  25. And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
  26. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
