Proverbs 20:15

There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

  2. But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding? Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living. The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me. It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof. It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire. The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold. No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies. The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
  3. For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
  4. The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
  5. The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.
  6. A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
  7. How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
  8. The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
  9. Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
  10. As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
  11. And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth. The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.
  12. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
  13. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
