The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

  3. But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
  4. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
  5. Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
  6. For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
  7. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
  8. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
  9. He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
  10. Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest stealeth him away in the night. The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place. For God shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.
  11. Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
  12. As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
  13. Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.
  14. Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
  15. For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
  16. This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.
  17. Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
  18. Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
  19. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
  20. What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
  21. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
  22. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
  23. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
  24. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
  25. And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
