Proverbs 1:22

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

  12. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
  13. And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
  14. O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
  15. Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
  16. Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
  17. A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.
  18. A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.
  19. Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
  20. When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
  21. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
  22. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
  23. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
  24. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
  25. Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
  26. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
  27. Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
  28. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
