Matthew 10:2

Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

  1. And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
  2. And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
  3. And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
  4. And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
  5. And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
  6. Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
  7. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
  8. Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
  9. And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
  10. And Simon he surnamed Peter; And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder: And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite, And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.
  11. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
  12. And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.
  13. And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes, And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.
  14. And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.
  15. Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:
  16. And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
  17. And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
  18. One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

  20. Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.
  21. Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
  22. Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
  23. There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
  24. Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
  25. This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
  26. And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
  27. Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
  28. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
  29. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
  30. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
  31. Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
  32. Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
  33. Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
  34. That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
  35. The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
  36. The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
  37. The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
  38. I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
  39. Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
  40. And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
