Mark 3:6

And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.
  8. And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
  9. Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.
