Luke 18:14

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

  10. Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
  11. The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
  12. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
  13. Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
  14. A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
  15. Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
  16. The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan, And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up, And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall, And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures. And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

  18. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
  19. For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
  20. Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
  21. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
  22. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  23. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
  24. But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
  25. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
  26. But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
  27. And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
  28. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
  29. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
  30. Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
  31. Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
  32. Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
  33. But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
  34. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
  35. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
