John 11:53

Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.

  10. From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
  11. And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
  12. Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;
  13. And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
  14. After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
  15. Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
  16. But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;
  17. When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.
