John 10:6

This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.

  7. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
  8. Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.
  9. The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
  10. Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
  11. What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?
  12. They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
  13. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
  14. These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
  15. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
  16. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
