Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

  2. To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
  3. For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers: (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:) Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
  4. No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
  5. What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us? With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.
  6. I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
  7. Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?
  8. Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say. Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:
  9. Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
  10. If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
