Job 31:16

If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;

If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth. Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee. Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.
  2. Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand:
  3. So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
  4. Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;
  5. Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry. But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it. Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
  6. I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
  7. He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.
  8. Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?
  9. Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy righteousness.
  10. Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.
  11. As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.
  12. And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
  13. Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
