For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:

  1. For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
  2. But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
  3. If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction;
  4. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
  5. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
  6. Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.
  7. Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments. I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.
  8. In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
  9. The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
  10. For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.
  11. I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
  12. And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
  13. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
