Jeremiah 51:56

Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.

  10. But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
  11. The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.
  12. Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
  13. A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.
  14. For it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.
  15. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
  16. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
  17. And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD.
  18. The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple. Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.
  19. A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.
  20. The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.
  21. And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
  22. And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:
  23. Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
  24. And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
  25. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
  26. Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
  27. For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
