Jeremiah 24:5

Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good.

  5. Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
  6. It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
  7. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
  8. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
  9. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
  10. But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
  11. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
  12. And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
  13. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
