James 1:26

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

  6. Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
  7. I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.
  8. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
  9. In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
  10. The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
  11. A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
  12. There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
  13. The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

  23. Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
  24. Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
  25. By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
  26. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
  27. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
  28. Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
  29. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
  30. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
  31. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
