Hebrews 3:7

Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

  1. While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
  2. Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
  3. The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
  4. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
  5. And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
  6. The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.
  7. But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
  8. Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
  9. Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
  10. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
  11. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
  12. Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
  13. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
  14. He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
  15. For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
  16. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
  17. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
  18. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
  19. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
  20. Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
  21. We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
  22. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
  23. Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
  24. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
  25. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
