Hebrews 12:11

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

  10. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
  11. But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
  12. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
  13. And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
  14. For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
  15. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
  16. Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
