And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:

And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him. And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me. So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company.
  6. And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
  7. And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.
  8. But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other people.
  9. And for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon,
  10. Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?
  11. And now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord.

  16. And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

  20. Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee.
  21. The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
  22. Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
  23. A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
  24. Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
  25. A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
  26. How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices!
  27. Make haste, my beloved, and be thou like to a roe or to a young hart upon the mountains of spices.
  28. The men of Dedan were thy merchants; many isles were the merchandise of thine hand: they brought thee for a present horns of ivory and ebony.
  29. And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
