Genesis 29:1

Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.

  6. And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.
  7. And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother. When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan; And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram;
  8. And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.
  9. Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.
  10. And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.
  11. I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.
  12. I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.
  13. Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
  14. And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
