Amos 6:3

Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;

  4. Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
  5. Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
  6. And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.
  7. Son of man, what is that proverb that ye have in the land of Israel, saying, The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth?
  8. For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.
  9. For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
  10. Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
  11. Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:
  12. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
  13. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
  14. And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
  15. For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
