2 Timothy 3:16

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

  1. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
  2. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
  3. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  6. The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
  7. O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts. I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word. I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me. How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
  8. Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.
  9. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
  10. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
  11. Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.
  12. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
  13. Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.
  14. The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
  15. O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?
  16. Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
  17. Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
  18. But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
  19. He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
  20. But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
  21. But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
  22. And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
  23. For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
  24. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
  25. If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
  26. Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
  27. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
  28. And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,
  29. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
  30. And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
  31. An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
  32. Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
  33. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
  34. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
  35. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
  36. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
  37. In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
  38. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
  39. Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
  40. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
