Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

  6. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
  7. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
  8. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
  9. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
  10. My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
  11. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
  12. Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
  13. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
  14. Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
  15. Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
  16. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
  17. Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
  18. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
  19. If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
  20. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
  21. But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
  22. Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
  23. But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
  24. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
  25. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
  26. Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
  27. But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
  28. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
