2 Chronicles 24:17

Now after the death of Jehoiada came the princes of Judah, and made obeisance to the king. Then the king hearkened unto them.

  3. He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly. Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellors after the death of his father to his destruction.
  4. With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.
  5. He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
  6. As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.
  7. A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
  8. A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.
  9. If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
  10. And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
  11. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
  12. Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
