1 Timothy 4:7

But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

  9. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
  10. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
  11. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
  12. Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
  13. Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
  14. But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
  15. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
