1 Peter 4:2

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

  9. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
  10. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
  11. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
  12. God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
  13. Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
  14. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
  15. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
  16. This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
  17. That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
  18. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
  19. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
  20. Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
  21. For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
  22. In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
  23. Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
  24. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
  25. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
  26. Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
  27. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
  28. As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
  29. Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
  30. Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
  31. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
