1 Peter 2:24

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

  1. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.   2. God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

  7. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
  8. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
  9. Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
  10. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
  11. And it shall be upon Aaron's forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD.
  12. And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.
  13. They shall therefore keep mine ordinance, lest they bear sin for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I the LORD do sanctify them.
  14. Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.
  15. And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree: His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
  16. For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
  17. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
  18. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
  19. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
  20. Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
  21. And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
  22. That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
  23. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
  24. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
  25. Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
  26. But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
  27. And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
  28. And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.
  29. For he that is dead is freed from sin.
  30. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
  31. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
  32. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
  33. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
  34. (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
  35. Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
  36. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
  37. And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
  38. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
  39. Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
  40. If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
  41. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
  42. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
