1 Corinthians 8:9

But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

  5. Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
  6. As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
  7. Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.
  8. Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.
  9. And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.
  10. Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?
  11. Because they ministered unto them before their idols, and caused the house of Israel to fall into iniquity; therefore have I lifted up mine hand against them, saith the Lord GOD, and they shall bear their iniquity.
  12. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
  13. Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
  14. Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
  15. We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
  16. But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
  17. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
  18. Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?
  19. Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
  20. I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.
  21. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
  22. But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
